2018 Neterian Conference Ritual Programs Summary of Assessment

Shemsu Initiation
This report is an assessment of what went well and what could have been improved for the Shemsu Initiation ritual at the 2018 Neterian Conference held on Friday, December 28, 2018. There was one person identified for initiation, aspirant Edward S. The preplanning for the ritual was overseen by Uab Amuntyt who met with the aspirant prior to the ritual and engaged him in the necessary preparatory work. In terms of what went well:
1. The physical set-up was appropriate and consistent with the arrangement in past years with places for the Shems, Asaru, Hemu and Spiritual Preceptors.
2. The comments and sentiments from the Shemsu and Hemu allowed the program to have a welcoming tone. Once initiated the aspirant shared an extensive and heart felt commentary on his process.
3. After the ritual the was a extensive Nefer period of chanting and music
4.
With regard to what could be improved:
1. Prior to the start there was still discussion and assignment of roles occurring while preparing to enter the temple space. This occurred in-view of the Shemsu. In the future the Hemu could allow sufficient time to plan and go over the format, roles and responsibilities for the ritual.
2. During the initiation my role was to read the Neterian Creed. Having not prepared or rehearsed my reading and pronunciation of some words could have been clearer.
3. Lastly there was a bit of uncertainty about the flow and the Hemu appeared unclear about what was occurring next and coordinating it with Seba Dja and Sebai Maa. Again pre-planning would have helped the ritual to flow smoothly.
Temple of Aset Tyt Ritual
This is an assessment of what went well and what could have been improved for the Tat ritual at the 2018 Neterian Conference held on Saturday, December 29, 2018. The preplanning for the ritual was overseen by the Temple of Aset Bastu.
In terms of what went well:
1. The set-up of the room gave a grand feeling to the event.
2. Overall, the ritual appeared well organized in accordance with the ritual program elements template provided by Sebai Maa.
3. The actual wood carving of the Tat was a very special element of the ritual. The chanting and musical selection really made the event special.
With regard to what could be done differently:
1. The burning of the incense may need to be altered in the future to reduce the chance of causing irritation to participants.
Hemu Ritual of the Soul (Ba)
This is an assessment of what went well and what could have been improved for the Ritual of the Soul at the 2018 Neterian Conference held on Sunday, December 30, 2018. The preplanning for the ritual was overseen by the Hemu participating in the Integral Studies Program.
In terms of what went well:
1. The components selected for the ritual made the experience unique, e.g., purification around the fountain and Ba ritual element placed in the shrine.
With regard to what could be done differently:
1. Although we spent substantial time prior to arriving at the conference planning for the ritual we could have rehearsed the process to assure a smoother process and clarity of roles.
2. The ritual began over 90 minutes past the designated time. The sentiment of not rushing the preparation was conveyed during the preparations. However, the lack of preparation on our part should not be passed on to the community for future rituals. Again, greater time and preparation in planning may address this issue.
