This issue of the fetters of Set is a profound teaching relating to the obstruction of mind that is produced by sufficient egoism. When the mind is sufficiently occluded by the presence of aryu of ignorance and afflicted by the complexes (anger, hatred, greed, jealousy, envy, etc.) that are produced by ignorant living over lifetimes, then a situation develops whereby the intellect becomes atrophied.
In order to cope with this situation the realization of the problem is important followed by the practice of wisdom dispassion called Khak ab. Then also a turning away from the path that led to saiu set and devotion (uashu) to the Divine that produces new positive aryu based on truth (Maat).
