Indeed, fish was consumed but not widely or in many areas because of the Asarian Resurrection Myth that held that a fish ate Asar’s penis. Other injunctions stemmed from the Kemetic Diet, namely that fish is a degraded food and this is evident in the fact that the shelf life is very short, starting to rot as soon as the fish are caught and killed.
