Level 1 – Lesson 16 Audio Assignment – 102AA Introduction to Kemetic Diet Track 1

1-What are the main teachings brought out in the audio lecture recording? Explain in your own words

The main teachings in the audio lecture revolved around the meaning of health, what causes its obstruction and what disciplines are required to attain it. The state of true health is knowledge of self, enlightenment. The Ancient Egyptians discovered that the “art of healthy living” is proper food for the physical body, mental body and soul, this is called the Kemetic Diet and the principles of this diet is the key that leads to true health which is also the goal and purpose of life, the knowledge of self/enlightenment. The Ancient Egyptians saints, sages and doctors such as the great Imhotep also discovered that there was only one reason for all diseases, Ukhedu (mucus buildup). This is a disease process that cause obstruction or clogging of the vascular systems (mettu) which prevents the proper flow of life force energy. This obstruction comes from improper foods fed not only to the physical body, but also to mind and soul as well. Improper foods for the body, mind and soul includes but are not limited to a non-vegetarian diet, meat eating, smoking, toxic environment, unrighteous thoughts, desires etc. So the disciplines of health, feeding the body, mind and soul their proper foods is a paramount aspect of spiritual life and evolution. I gathered that what you feed these different bodies is what you are offering to God and what you offer is what you get, what is reciprocated, which gives meaning to the hekau “ Hotep di si neter iri mettu wadj (Peace offering is made to propitiate that God may make the vascular system flourish-An invocation of Health).

The explanation of the cover of the book “The Kemetic Diet” gave additional insights into the proper foods for true health, these foods lead to physical (Khat), mental (Ka) and soul (Ba) purity and purity of all the three bodies is what gives an aspirant the capacity to attain spiritual enlightenment/nehast. The cover is designed as a plate with food for the body, mind and soul on it. In the center of the plate there are three kemetic symbols. Firstly, is an ankh which symbolizes the life process which produces life (creation), the circle (eternal) and the cross (finite/time and space) that the ankh is made up of symbolizes the unity of male and female to produce new life which is what happens in a person’s body until they die. Next is a strip of papyrus with the kemetic words “Un Em Ka un” this is the food for the mind which is righteous words and righteous teachings, that feeds the mind what endures. Then there is the food for the soul, the only thing that the soul desires and what feeds the soul is the eye of Heru (Kemetic Eucharist), it is the consecrated eye of the divine which opens consciousness (knowledge and awareness of divine nature to you). Surrounding these symbols are the food for the body, which are fruits and vegetables. All these foods needs to be eaten in their proper proportion to be free of suffering from diseases of the body, mind and spirit so one can attain knowledge of their true essence.

2-Are you currently implementing the teaching given in the book and the lecture? If so which one(s)? Ny, I have implemented all three aspects of the Kemetic Diet to the best of my capacity. I am vegetarian (no meat, fish, dairy etc.), I feed my mind the wisdom teachings most of the time and I gather that feeding the soul is through developing burning aspiration and will that leads to divine consciousness, which comes from integral shedy.

3-If not then how will you implement the teachings you are not currently practicing, in your life and spiritual practice? I sometimes lack in amount of time spent in the shedy of meditation. I think I could implement more of a balance in my practice of the disciplines. I see integral shedy now as an art and I think over time, I will be able to balance or give each their proper proportions.
