Your answer is correct but I need to add a few points.
Meditation practice, along with bolstering will-power, affords the opportunity to gain higher insight into the nature of higher reality of existence. But this occurs when there is wisdom study, devotional perspective and ethical conscience. Meditation works best in that environment. Otherwise it will promote mental concentration but not enlightenment so much. Therefore, meditation is more than only for mental power and the study of mind in meditation is allowed to go to subtler distances when the other ingredients are present. Otherwise another detrimental possibility is that that mental power and concentration ability might be directed at negative goals or ways of understanding, or negative desires and feelings and thoughts of the ignorant ego.
“IF THOU WILT ATTENTIVELY DWELL (meditate) AND OBSERVE WITH THY HEART’S EYES, THOU WILL FIND THE PATH THAT LEADS ABOVE; NAY, THAT IMAGE SHALL BECOME THY GUIDE ITSELF, BECAUSE THE DIVINE SIGHT HATH THIS PECULIAR CHARM; IT HOLDETH FAST AND DRAWETH UNTO IT THOSE WHO SUCCEED IN OPENING THEIR EYES, JUST AS, THEY SAY, THE MAGNET THE IRON.”
