Very good reflections. You are starting to understand as well that the teaching is scientific but it is also an art. Because human beings are not machines and do not change as if by switching a light on and off, there needs to be understanding of the teaching and then relentless pursuit of its perfection. The pursuit itself is the shedy and there is no need for perfection in disciplines. What is the goal is perfection in experience and that takes time to restructure the obstructing aryu and thus wepwat open a way to spiritual enlightenment.
