What is necessary to have a successful spiritual program?
Spiritual practice, called Shedy in ancient Kemet is a great process which means to penetrate the mysteries, this means doing activities which allows you to gain insight into the nature of the teachings and yourself. This practice leads to transformation or resurrection from a normal human being (mummy, dead, without direction) to a true human being (awakened). To be a successful practitioner one has to;
1. Cultivate virtues 2. Bring those virtues into daily life 3. Continuous spiritual practice 4. Truthfulness 5. Live life in accordance with truth 6. Be open and ready to hear truth 7. Attain purity of heart 8. Be humble always (combat pride and egoism) 9. Go beyond faith 10. Be Flexible 11. Selfless service 12. Forgiveness 13. Maintaining mental balance 14. Positive thinking
Though there are many virtues in Maat Philosophy, truthfulness is the main one that need to be cultivated because all other virtues flows from truth. Since the teachings can be approached in an immature way (fanaticism- blind following), one should be mindful that the seeking of truth means to go beyond faith and concepts and seek proof through learning to understand it- this process occurs through purification and being humble. By being humble, one is open to hearing truth which comes in all manifestations of the divine, if one feels that they have found the ultimate truth, they have closed their ears because truth changes. They are found in steps or degrees – and the perception of truth is based on a person’s level of purity. When a higher truth is found the lesser truth needs to be left behind. There is no literal/absolute truth in books, tapes etc. or even teachings – they are guides to lead you to understand truth. Therefore authentic spiritual revolution has to do with purity more than words and teachings.
2-Are you currently implementing the teaching given in the book and the lecture? If so which one(s)?
I am implementing the wisdom teachings through effort in reflection and action. I am more mindful of truth after listening to this audio and I am learning to understand it as my perception of it changes. I am beginning to understand what it is to let go of lesser truths as I take steps along the path of truth- as this is the process of purification – This particular lesson is one I needed, sometimes baby steps seems so profound that you can get complacent there which can intensify the ego which one might not be aware of- Like taking one step forward and two steps backward- I am also becoming more aware of my capacity through my thoughts and actions and have responded by making an effort to implement the teachings in a balance way.
3-If not then how will you implement the teachings you are not currently practicing, in your life and spiritual practice?
I am currently practicing most of the teachings to my capacity, I plan on gradually increasing the quantity of formal practice as I move forward.
