Report Assignment for Book EM Vol. Shetaut Hemu The Priests and Priestesses of Ancient Egypt. The pages cover for this lesson were 53-60 from 11-01-2020.
In reviewing these pages we gained the understanding that the Clergy became less of an influence on the society as the military gained in strength. It was stressed how the corruption by the influence of laity over clergy helped to bring about the turning away from Maat.
Sebai Maa shared his commentary of the passages of Diodorus. I found Vs. 71.3 to be very important, “Orderly civil government is maintained when society is governed by righteous laws, when the government leaders are accountable for their actions and when they are guided by wise counsel instead of ego driven passions.”
As we look at our society today we can easily see how far we have strayed. Examples were given of our degraded society and supposed leaders today, who have no understanding of Maatian ethical conscience and what that has wrought, greed, amorality, conflicts and no understanding of the Divine Oneness of all.
An interesting fact that was highlighted was that the Clergy of Ancient Egypt were well aware of the personality issues that plague human beings and employed Maatian principles and philosophy in leadership. I understood this to mean that sometimes we may have an idyllic perspective of ancient Kemet but these passages reveal how incorrect that type of thinking is. However there were at least many Sages and Clergy to help guide where today there is scant.
So how do we gain knowledge and live by Maat in this time and space era? By being resolute in the teachings, enjoining the wisdom and philosophy of Maat, using our Shedy practices to purify and stay close in Knumt Nefer.
