A Documentary – Journey Back: Resurrecting the Ancient Egyptian Medicine Healer – Sunnu(t)
In 2015 Sehu Khepera Ankh began the process of resurrecting the ancient Egyptian medicinal healing arts by offering a didactic training program in Ancient Egyptian Medicinal philosophy to students in the Shetaut Neter tradition.
Sehu mentored his students through a detailed examination of four modules about human psychophysiology. Module 1 is an examination of Historical Background and General Neterian/Ancient Egyptian Philosophy; Module 2 covers Specific Healing/Medicinal Philosophy; Module 3 examines the Anatomy and Physiology of the Physical and Subtle Body, and Module 4 studies Medicinal Herbs and their Application. The first 3 modules are followed by written exams and the fourth by a practicum trip to Egypt where students visit ancient sites, study hieroglyphic texts, pictographs, and attend praxis training to learn about the use of herbs, manipulative therapies, yogic exercises, and psychophysiological processes.
October 2-12, 2018 I assisted Sehu in organizing the trip and agreed to create a documentary film of the trip. The creation of the documentary involved my recording the footage, transcribing the spoken word footage, developing a storyboard, writing a script, editing the footage, and selecting music for the film. The process took approximately 14 months. The finished film is approximately 1 hour 41 minutes.
The trailer to the film may be found at https://youtu.be/ZABP1NNfAyss. We would appreciate sharing the full film with the Sebai Ma, Seba Dja, and the Integral Studies class during a local program meeting. If this is not feasible we can discuss other options to facilitate viewing.
