Comment on Unut Anpu post for Lesson 9
Unut Anpu did a very good job uncovering the part of the ego that we struggle with which is our desires that we have yet to tame completely. Culturally most of us have been conditioned to pursue the financial rewards of life. We ask for it; we pray for it; and at times we suspend all rational thinking in pursuit of it. We are conditioned to believe that our desires (financial success) are the things that will make us happy, secure, desirable and strong. As clergy of the Neterian faith we now know nothing could be further from the truth. So, when Amenenmope admonishes us, “not to pursue riches and to be satisfied with what we have” Unut Anpu (and myself included) have been unconsciously in the past in pursuit for riches in the name of financial security. It is good that we both now live in the glorious present with sound mind and knowledge of what truly matters. Dua Sebai Maa, Dua Seba Dja, Dua Sage Amenenmope!
